NEWS OF DONBAS WILL BECOME THE FIRST UKRAINIAN MEDIA RESOURCE AVAILABLE IN AN INNOVATIVE BROWSER

Ceno is an innovative browser that will allow people under occupation to browse Ukrainian websites without a VPN. News of Donbas will be the first Ukrainian media to be added to the browser.

Given the increased censorship in the occupied areas and in the Russian Federation itself, the danger of shutting down the global Internet and switching exclusively to the “Ru-Net” is growing. This will be a major challenge for Ukrainian journalists, as it will make it practically impossible to access this audience.

Ceno and its features were presented at the Donbas Media Forum. The browser allows not only to read Ukrainian media resources blocked in the TOT without a VPN, but also to access them even if Russia cuts off the external Internet in these territories.

“The project was first presented at DMF2023. We collected feedback from all stakeholders, especially in terms of end-user safety. And we started finalizing solutions to minimize human involvement in the process. Now we have finalized the process and are ready to negotiate. The first resource we will add is News of Donbas, and the second may be Detector Media. We are also planning to add national resources,” said Oleksandr Glushchenko, head of the non-profit organization eQualitie.

More information about the browser and its features can be found at Detector Media.
