DII presented public report of 2016 and plans for 2017

NGO Donetsk Institute of Information held a public presentation of its operation report of 2016 and the Strategy of its activity for 2017.

The presentation was held by the Chief of the Organization Board Oleksiy Matsuka in Media Hub, Kyiv, on January 27. “The name of our Organization contains the word “information”, and  this is not accidental. We have been trying to change the situation in the society with the help of various information products for 8 years. The main thing is to create conditions for democratic changes to take place and for the development of civil society. Information in the form of news and videos is presented to wide audience; in the form of analytical notes and recommendations — to stakeholders; in the form of textbooks, manuals, and trainings — to journalists and workers of media sphere. These are the three lines of our activity: analytical center, services for journalists, and media products”, as Oleksiy Matsuka said.

He also presented directions:

- Expertise and analysis of the information sphere of the Donbas in order to reduce hostility, prejudice, and susceptibility to propaganda;

- Monitoring of the employment of principles of good governance by the authorities in priority spheres (administering, reforms, healthcare, education, services rendered by power bodies, humanitarian activity) during the time of crisis;

- Reintegration of Donbas into Ukraine;

- Organizational development.

The presentation was attended by representatives of international donor organizations, public initiatives from Donbas, and journalists. Vitaliy Sizov presented a detailed report of the Organization's analytical activity in 2016 (see the Presentation below).

O.Matsuka presented the information about the development of the following projects: Donbas Public TV, News of Donbas, Donetsk Truth, and a new one — Donbas Media.
